FAQ

WHY PAY FOR INDOOR HEATED STORAGE???

The weather has many effects on the condition of a vehicle.   Here are some examples!

  • One of the biggest contributors to problems caused by winter weather is road salt damage. Road salt can accelerate auto damage like rust and corrosion where nicks and scratches exist if it’s left unattended on the exterior of the vehicle. Small scratches can become big problems when your vehicle is exposed to the elements on a daily basis. It can also corrode the metal undercarriage, which then becomes a safety concern.
  • Rain, snow and sleet (especially, in Minnesota, where precipitation is typically acidic) can break down a car’s finish. This type of precipitation will weaken your vehicle’s paint over time and lead to the paint starting to fade, and eventually rust will take hold!
  • Ultraviolet rays from the sun will break down the rubber and vinyl over time. Vinyl/rubber expands and contracts if regularly subjected to extreme heat and cold and can end up cracking. Also, these extreme changes in temperature will cause condensation to form which will deteriorate the engine components.

The best way to avoid these issues is to store your vehicle in a climate controlled storage facility keeping your vehicle in pristine condition!

HOW DO I PREPARE MY VEHICLE FOR STORAGE???

  • Over-inflating the tires 3-4 psi reduce flat spots from forming.
  • The Fire Marshall recommends keeping your gas tank low on fuel. A fuel additive (Stabil or Sea foam) is recommended to reduce the chance of old gas turning to varnish. The fuel additive can be purchased at our facility or any automotive store.  The vehicle should be run for 15 minutes after the additive has been added.
  • We suggest changing the engine oil after taking the vehicle out of storage.
  • If you have a convertible top, leave it up during long periods of storage. A convertible top can develop creases when folded for long periods of time.
  • Finally, you should purchase a vehicle cover that is made from soft, synthetic, non-wovenfabric that further protects your vehicle’s finish from scratches. Always use a cover on a clean vehicle only!  A fine layer of dust is enough to do damage to your paint.
  • Once parked at out facility we disconnect the battery. This will prevent corrosion of the electrical terminals and cables and prevent the batteries voltage to drain down. We then will cover your vehicle.
